By Gary Wiggins ---- CHS CLASS OF '61 50TH REUNION Friday, June 10, 2011 will be a very important day for the graduates of the Charlestown High School Class of 1961. On that date, we will hold our 50-year reunion at Lakeside Reflections, 617 Brown Forman Road (just off Utica Pike), in Jeffersonville. Something really special is going to happen at the 50th reunion. Our own Chuck Ledbetter has agreed to be the DJ for the evening! There is also a strong rumor that an anonymous donor is going to provide a special souvenir gift to all attendees. And if that isn't enough to convince you to attend, there will also be some rare and exciting door prizes. We are working hard to keep the cost of the reunion within reason for all. Out-of-area attendees will have easy access to Lakeside Reflections if you stay at the Sheraton (along Utica Pike) or the Holiday Inn off I65 (formerly the Marriott). -------- CHS CLASS OF '61 RAISING FUNDS FOR 50TH REUNION A recent survey of everyone on the CHS Class of '61 Planning Committee (Budd Bettler, Chuck Ledbetter, Fred Tungate, Karen Francke Peterson, Lois Eberle Turner, Phyllis Cooper Pack, Ron Tobias, Toni Adams Allen, and Gary Wiggins) revealed strong support for continuing to accept donations both for the scholarship fund and reunion expenses. The original goal of $2,000 for the scholarship was met in January 2010. However, donations will still be accepted, either to increase the size of the scholarship or to help offset the costs of the reunion itself. Checks should be made out to "CHS Class of '61 50th Reunion" and sent to: Gary Wiggins, 2003 S. High Street, Bloomington, IN 47401. Please indicate clearly on your check or in a note whether to use the money for: Scholarship or Reunion expenses. |

|
By Gary Wiggins and Ron Tobias To commemorate its upcoming 50th reunion, the Charlestown High School class of 1961 has donated $1,995 for the placement of a granite bench in the Pirate Pride Way of the Alumni Garden at the new Charlestown High School. Pirate Pride Way is a fundraiser for the CHS Pirate Pride Booster Club, and the sale of memorial benches and bricks goes toward that effort. |

Friday, 23 October 2009 |
FROM: GBP News - The Leader
The City of Charlestown will soon be moving full speed ahead preparing for this year’s Christmas season. This year promises to be the best and most exciting Christmas yet. The Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department along with The Charlestown Beautification Committee, local churches and city employees are working hard to plan and organize several events to provide family entertainment. Light Up Charlestown will be a great evening to create family memories. They are looking for anyone who would like to be a member of the Community Choir. The Choir will perform at light-up November 27. They are looking for 200 or more people who will be a part of the celebration. They will practice at the Arts & Enrichment Center on Tuesdays, November 10 and 17, 7 to 8:30 p.m. The choir will lead the children in singing Christmas carols before the countdown and they will sing “The Hallelujah Chorus” after the lights come on. |
